Why Are My Portraite Pictures Uploading Landscape

The vertical (portrait) photos I take with my new S3 accept suddenly begun to automatically rotate equally if taken horizontally (mural).

The vertical photos appear correctly in the telephone's gallery. But when I upload them to either Facebook or my computer the photos are rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise, equally if I took them horizontally. The photos also appear horizontal if transport them through a text message.

This is a new problem. For the first iii weeks the phone oriented the photos correctly regardless of how I held information technology (vertical photos showed as vertical, horizontal showed as horizontal).

The Exif data for vertical photos shows the photos have been rotated 90 CW. Yet the photo displays on my PC, Facebook or text messages every bit if it were taken horizontally.

Has anybody experienced this and/or found a solution?

I only noticed this from my phone this morning time too. 2 of 15 pictures taken this weekend are similar that.

Yes, information technology is incredibly frustrating. I tried updating my Twitter profile flick form my phone and even if I change the rotation before uploading, it doesn't help. I wish I knew what the cause was and how to fix!

That is indeed a decent workaround that I'll probably have to use until the problem is fixed.

However, the bigger result is that the phone did not take this trouble initially. So either I've committed some boneheaded blunder that changed the photographic camera'due south settings, or the phone changed the settings on its own.

Either way it'south frustrating to know that the problem is fixable; simply don't know how to prepare information technology yet.

Aforementioned hither when I upload pics through Tapatalk. Sometimes information technology'due south fine, sometimes they come out sideways.

    Very frustrating.

  6. Try clearing your camera'due south cache. Go to settings > applications > camera make sure all at the top is selected.

I don't have whatever bug with Twitter or FB. It seems that they honor the EXIF Orientation field.

I do have bug when viewing the pictures in Windows Photo Gallery and when uploading to Meetup.

Well, I have no idea how information technology happened, but the photographic camera is back to functioning similar information technology should. Photos taken vertically (portrait) are once again appearing vertically on FB, text messages, my PC, etc. Merely I can't think of anything I did to "fix" the trouble. I wasn't even trying to set up anything; camera just reverted dorsum on its own.

snilloconator, I didn't get a chance to clear the cache, but I will proceed that in mind if the trouble arises again.

I likewise am having this issue. When taking pictures in portrait (vertical) they have correctly. When I view them in the gallery, they appear as I took them. When I click to share to whatever app, mms, or online, the images rotate 90 degrees left. I tested the same affair with the front camera, and those images practise the same thing yet they rotate 90 degrees correct. I'1000 non sure what has caused this, as information technology wasn't originally doing information technology. I have cleared the camera settings and to no avail. This appeared to exist the but location I could find in searches that someone else had had the same issue. Hoping possibly someone has had this issue and knows of a ways to correct it without having to ingather every photograph.

    Thanks

    Just started today? WTF..

Me likewise. Really annoying. Whatsoever fixes? Always has done this. Just had it for a couple days.

Okay, I had this upshot as well inside less than a week of owning it. Tried pulling the battery, cleared cache, reset to factory and every other gear up I could find online. The problem was intermittent. When I went to Verizon to show them, it magically was working again. The next time (ii days later and afterwards a reset) I took it in and they ordered a new one for me. By then, the phone would flip to landscape upside down whenever I used dolphin or facebook. Information technology was crazy. Perhaps unrelated, but iHeart radio would randomly start support and play the last channel I listened to. Anyway, it wouldn't act right for more than a day. Got my new phone v days ago and it is working perfectly. Perchance a bad batch with accelerometer issues.

Mine had done this from day 1 randomly. Some pics are fine, others are flipped 90 degrees, some 180 degrees.

I have the same upshot lately..samsung support is crap...

is there whatsoever solution to this??

  15. Putty

Did anyone ever find a ready for this? Happening to me and I am so annoyed by it. Tired of people request me why I send sideways photos...ANYONE??
  16. works fine for facebook, twitter put them all(portrait pictures) sideways

  18. cheers this actually works, funny a few portrait pictures piece of work without this piece of work around merely i gauge if it screws up delete the tweet and edit the picture than re-tweet, ignoying but thank you for the workaround

doing some more tests it looks to work normal if you lot add it to twitter from the Gallery app (ie share via twitter) but if you are already in the twitter app and hit the upload motion-picture show icon it does the sideways thing

then i guess a good rule if y'all irresolute your profile film or replying to a tweet with a picture crop information technology first, if you just sharing a photo to your ain tweet just utilise the share via twitter option in the Gallery app

When you take a photo in portrait and add information technology to a text message, if puts information technology in the bulletin in landscape, then people who receive information technology have to turn their caput to see.

Whatsoever updates on this rotating picture event? Actually a lot of trouble to ingather and then send. It also adds the cropped picture to my gallery.

  21. Sorry i havent read thread merely people used to iphone/BB take pics with the phone in portrate way where if yous remember about information technology, Sony started united states holding the phone like a existent camera.
  22. tweak4

Any updates on this? My married woman's S3 started machine-rotating MMS images today, even though information technology has worked fine for several months. Images shot landscape are fine, merely portrait images are all rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise for some reason...
  23. Think of your telephone every bit a HD TV screen. That would be in landscape mode. This is how the camera thinks information technology should be. If you snap a portrait mode photograph information technology's similar you've turned your camera on the side and the image will finish upwardly rotated. I've learned to shoot everything now in landscape, using 2 easily and every single photo is oriented properly.
